There’s something so special about weddings that feel completely true to the couple.

Sarah & Paul’s intimate wedding at Islington Town Hall was exactly that. Relaxed, personal, emotional, and filled with the kind of quiet moments that make documentary wedding photography so meaningful to capture.

With just a handful of their closest people there to celebrate alongside them, the day felt incredibly warm from beginning to end.

The morning began at Islington Town Hall, where Sarah & Paul arrived a little before the ceremony so everyone could settle in and mingle together before heading into Room 99.

With only their children and partners attending, the entire wedding felt incredibly intimate and personal from the very start.

Before the ceremony began, I also handed my point-and-shoot film camera over to the family so they could capture parts of the day from their own perspective, which made the final gallery feel even more personal. A little thank you as well to the girls for basically becoming my second shooters for the day!

Room 99 at Islington Town Hall is honestly such a lovely space for smaller weddings. It feels really intimate and calm while still having that classic London elegance to it.

Sarah & Paul wanted everything to feel very natural and relaxed, which is exactly how the whole day unfolded. Nothing felt overly posed or forced, everyone was just fully present and enjoying the moment together.

There were so many small moments throughout the ceremony that I loved capturing, the little looks between them, everyone laughing together, quiet reactions during the vows. Those in-between moments are always the ones I’m most drawn to when photographing weddings.

After the ceremony, we captured a few relaxed portraits inside and outside the Town Hall before everyone headed to celebrate together.

Rather than heavily posing them, I simply guided them lightly and allowed them to interact naturally together. That always creates photographs that feel much more genuine and personal.

Their wedding had such a calm and joyful energy all day long, and the final gallery became a mix of digital photography, 35mm film, and point-and-shoot guest photographs that reflected the atmosphere of the day perfectly.

Everyone then headed to The Bull for champagne and a little more time together before continuing the day.

One of my favourite things about micro weddings is how relaxed and intentional they feel. Without a huge timeline or guest list, there’s so much more space to actually be present and enjoy the day together.

Sarah & Paul’s wedding was such a lovely reminder that weddings don’t need to be big to feel incredibly meaningful.

If you’re planning a micro wedding or intimate London town hall wedding and want photography that feels natural, relaxed, and true to you, I’d absolutely love to hear from you.
